About our Equipment

Yes, we use our onsite Sani Sport machine to sanitize gear when it is returned this will remove up to 98% of any bacteria. We will sanitize tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and any other products that have fabric as well as any camp kitchen items. Water filters are boiled after every use.


We rent a broad range of camping and outdoor gear. Tents, Backpacks, Sleeping Bags, Stove, Bear Safety, Sleeping poles and trekking poles, we also have some accessories you may like. We rent top quality gear from the likes of Osprey, Marmot, MSR, GSI, Jetboil, Eureka and many more. Our gear is current and like new (we do have a small selection of older backpacks to give people more options)

The first thing to know is that canister of bear spray needs to be handled with respect and that misused or handled carelessly can result in an extremely unpleasant experience. In saying that bear spray could potentially be one of your best defenses in the event that a bear encounter occurs. At ChangingGear all our bear spray rentals come with clip and holster for easier and safer transportation – if you would like more peace of mind for a very small fee we also rent a hardened bear spray container that you can travel with.

When you come into the store to pickup your rental and begin your adventure we will review the operation of the bear spray with a demonstration model so you will also have a excellent understanding of how it works and how to use it. The Parks Canada bear awareness pamphlet will also be made available. In the event that the bear spray is returned having been used there will a charge for the full amount of the retail value.

We are happy to work with outfitters, churches, tour guides, other rental companies, hiking clubs, training groups. To discuss your group’s needs, simply contact us here.

We offer discount and “partnering” programs for outfitters and guide services who may not wish to deal  with the inventory and administrative aspects of handling gear for their customers, or who need occasional supplements to their own rental inventory levels.

Pickup / Dropoff

You can pick up your rentals anytime after the store opens.
We are open Monday to Friday 10am to 5:30pm and Saturdays from 9am to 5pm.

Rental Process

We require 72 hours notice prior to pickup for any reductions or cancellations. You may add to to the day before your delivery, subject to the item availability. This helps to reduce chances of errors from last minute changes. A 50% change fee applies to any items reduced or cancelled with less than 72 hours’ notice.

On the day you come and pick up your rental you will need to bring two pieces of identification and a valid credit card. Your credit card will be authorized for the full amount of the rental. If you are from out of country you will need to bring a passport for identification.

We are expecting reasonable wear and tear on our gear during your rental, beyond normal wear and tear it will be necessary to charge for replacement or repair cost. We use top quality gear and with normal use it is very hard to damage – in the event that something does go wrong – let us know and we will do our best to sort it out.
